Port of San Diego - Bay City Marine
PROJECT TITLE: Phase I: Soil Remediation at Former Bay City Marine Site
CLIENT: Safety-Kleen Corporation, Mr. Jeff Kacirek
OWNER: Port of San Diego, Mr. William Hays
DESCRIPTION: In this phase, in support of Safety-Kleen and the Port of San Diego, FNC excavated, stockpiled, and coordinated the loading and hauling of over 15,000 CY of impacted soil within the former Bay City Marine site. This is a shoreline site within the active tidal zone. The excavation required the demolition of former building slabs, foundations, pavement, and marine ways. In addition, the construction of a groundwater de-watering and pre-treatment system made possible the disposal of over 800,000 gallons of groundwater to the municipal sewer which allowed excavating to be performed below mean sea level. The shoreline revetment was deconstructed to remove impacted soil and then reconstructed to restore the shoreline armor. The excavations were then backfilled and compacted with imported soil to restore the site to its previous condition.
PROJECT TITLE: Phase II: Dredge Cell Construction at Former Bay City Marine Site
CLIENT : Ocean Blue Environmental, Mr. Don Ostrand
OWNER: Port of San Diego, Mr. William Hays
DESCRIPTION: In this phase, FNC constructed a lined containment cell with a drainage system which allowed water to decant from dredge spoils which were off-loaded into the containment cell from an off-shore barge. FNC, in support of Ocean Blue and the Port of San Diego, managed and loaded over 10,000 cubic yards of dewatered dredge spoils for offsite disposal. The containment cell was then deconstructed and the site was restored for future redevelopment.
